A deeply personal, intensely thought out and exciting new chapter of my life has begun, with you included!

Long ago, of another lifetime and age, another era and mindset, I was a mere 19 years of age. I left my wild flower country settings, and ventured into downtown Pittsburgh to find a job. I was so naive to city working lifestyles.  At that time, the horizon of the city from the parkway east, was barely visible due to the amount of smog from the working mills that spewed their toxins into our precious atmosphere and lungs. However, It was the 1980's and life was grand on many levels of existence. The Jenkins Arcade was still alive. The Syria Mosque was still alive. The Bank Center was still alive.  Money was grandiose and abundant for most business's. Disco was lighting the nights and I took full advantage of my new love of downtown Pittsburgh's, day and night life.

After a few salons that I worked at, I quickly built a respectful and talented reputation as one of Pittsburgh's finest female hairstylists. I worked 15 hours per day and I was happily scheduled with a full booking of guests up to and including 3 months in advance. My dedication and focus to hairdressing, took me to London where I studied at the most prestigious school in the world...Vidal Sassoon Academy. Those exquisite fundamental basic structures advanced and supported my passion and career to opening my first salon on Wood street, now 17 years ago. I flourished there for 12 long years. It was a tucked away second floor secret gem in the historical Arrott Building in downtown Pittsburgh, that many of you still talk about and enjoyed being a part of. For a variety of reasons, employees came and went , people fell in love with their hair...and Salon Christine was happily buzzing in creativity. I traveled all over Europe, I cut hair in tiny villages on the Aegean Sea of Greece, the Mediterranean sea of Italy, Amsterdam, England, Scotland, Wales,and the Italian and French Riviera . I cut hair in the deserts of Arizona on a cacti stump and I cut hair in the Kivas of the Bandelier National Monument in New Mexico. I studied perfumology in the village of Grasse, France. I was a platform educational artist for 3 major international hair companies. I personally educated hairdressers in every corner of Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky. I was president of the international Art and Fashion group for the Pittsburgh chapter. I was the world renowned Vivienne Mackinders's assistant and learned more than I ever could have afforded to learn in a monetary way. One of my greatest lessons so far, is to step away from my subject matter, and broaden my horizon of visual approach to the subject at hand. In short, think out of the box, and continue to reinvent and evolve my own personal wheel. That leads me to many beautiful doors that continue to open with like minded kindhearted people along the way. I have learned, that " those or that which no longer serves you, leaves room for those or that which does". For every door that closes, leaves an open ray of light of growth on so many levels.

Life took its course, and i decided  that for more exposure,  it was time to close my first  salon and open my second salon as an Aveda salon on Penn Avenue in the cultural district. I fell in love with the Aveda philosophy for the environment and the betterment of every woman or mans hair in a greener approach. I was part of Gallery Crawl and the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust for the past 4 years. I promoted and gave opportunities to expose local  Pittsburgh artists their very first art openings...and they quite successfully did just that!  Hundreds of people walked through Salon Christine during Gallery Crawl evenings. Salon Christine has lived on Penn Avenue now for 4 happy years.

As most of you know of me, I am a woman of change, deep respect, consideration and leadership. I constantly re invent my own personal wheel, all the while knowing I have done the best I could have done, at the end of each and every night. As my mother once said to me, "you don't know what you don't know, until you know it". Now having exposed , a little bit about my life, over and over again I am constantly approached with frustration by new guests of the salon as well as existing ones, with the parking situation that continues to become more and more frustrating as well as the increasing expense, in the downtown area of Pittsburgh. Parking lots are being bought by individual companies, locking them to lease only clients, increasing their prices , and garages are impossible to find when there is a sports event, a parade or a snow or rain storm. This has greatly affected the consistency of my business as well as so many other small business's downtown.

And so.....I have listened to you, and now I am able and taking action, for your ease and betterment, to provide yet another charming and lovely new salon location with FREE parking directly in front of the new salon.

This new location is opening on April 5, and we are already booked for our opening first few weeks. Excellent responses have supported this very thought out move. We will be exactly 3 miles from our current salon, straight up the road and right past the strip district. The neighborhood of Lawrenceville has welcomed the zen atmosphere of Salon Christine with letters of approval already..and we haven't even opened as of yet. We are a dog friendly salon and we will accommodate your needs at almost any hour day and night that you need. We will have Sunday brunch hair, in the near future, from 12-3. Lots of fun events and gatherings will be held for a girls get together or a personal appointment for just your own needs. Consider this new space to be "your personal Eden and oasis".

We are offering everything that we offer now, but in a smaller art studio atmosphere. Our phone number is the same. Our website is the same. Our dynamic Aveda products are the same. Our staff is the same. Our services are even better and  our atmosphere is going to ROCK!! We are also directly connected to a charming and peaceful massage boutique studio that you may take advantage of before or after your hair service.

And of course.....the MOST important part.....our beloved Lord Oliver will continue to be the grandest and most polite and loving host of all!!

Bonus...sweet indoor /outdoor seating in the warmer climate, with local fresh baked pastries , sweet iced teas and hearty robust coffee to relax with before , after, or during your hair or body treatments.

Our last day downtown is Saturday March 26th.

Good bye to downtown parking....i have personally given you over $60,000.00 of my hard earned money, just  in PARKING FEES!  I have brought a tremendous amount of people to your city to have lunch, drinks and hair services. Its time to support a growing sweet charming local neighborhood that is filled with one after another individual artists vision. the countless restaurants are awesome. the coffee and tea shops are awesome. the flower shops are awesome. the card shops are awesome. the bakery shops are awesome. the shopping is awesome....and all of it is within walking distance of the new Salon Christine location.
